Pediatric Residency Newsletter: Week of 8/31 - 9/4

Happy National Bow Tie Day! http://www.nationalbowtieday.com/

Announcements:
1) Med dosing: Although Epic allows us to order exact doses by weight, please remember to round medication doses to make them easier to administer!
2) Attendings with admission privileges: Please remember to cosign the admit order. Without this, the patient cannot be discharged.
3) LifeLinks: Please note that after September 30, we will no longer have access to LifeLinks or eClinical Works.
4) FAST Teams: Starting September 1, families will be able to activate a FAST Team by calling 4-4357. A poster will be displayed in each patient room explaining the process and a video is also in production.
5) Adult Codes: For any adult codes in Hasbro, the adult team needs to stay for the code and transport the patient to the adult ED. While the pediatric team is typically the first to respond, the adult team is ultimately responsible for the patient in case of any clinical status change in route to the ED.
6) Pharmacy: There is still a shortage of Unasyn. Please use it only when needed. The pharmacy and ID teams are available to help you find an alternative medicine when appropriate.
